Quotes of pagan writings in the Bible

These are "verified" quotes of pagan authors which were used by Apostles. These quotes became common sayings and, apparently, used to convey Divine Truths in an understandable manner.

Epimenides

Our Holy Apostle Paul quoted pagan poet Epimenides' (7th or 6th century BC) Ode to Zeus in his letter to Titus 1:12-13:

"Cretans, always liars, evil beasts, idle bellies."

Socrates (470 BC – 399 BC)

In Philippians 1:21 "...to die is gain..." Apostle Paul loosely quoted Socrates' words:
